As someone who served our country for eight years in the U.S. Air Force, Mark believes those who put their lives on the line for our country should be treated well when they return home. He’ll work to dedicate funding for veterans services and help disabled veterans get jobs.
As someone who helps care for his elderly mom, Mark will work to provide services that allow more seniors to age in their homes and protect senior citizens from abuse by toughening penalties against elder abuse.
As a parent, Mark believes too many politicians in Salem have the wrong priorities – laying off teachers and cutting vital services while giving tax breaks to out-of-state corporations. He will work to increase funding for local schools, so that they can hire more teachers, reduce class size and increase graduation rates.
Growing up, Mark’s family needed government assistance to put food on the table. He will be a strong voice for working families. He’ll champion paid family and medical leave so that workers can afford to care for a new baby or a family member who is seriously ill. He will work to help hard-working families earn enough income to support themselves and their families by strengthening equal pay for equal work laws to ensure women who do the same work, earn the same as men.
As a small business owner, Mark will work to create more opportunities for Oregonians to start and expand small businesses, so we can increase jobs. He will strengthen career and technical training programs and work to create a better link between community colleges and local businesses.
Mark is the only candidate endorsed by Planned Parenthood because he supports a woman’s access to health care and he will fight to make sure insurance companies provide comprehensive women’s health care including birth control, reproductive health services, pre-natal care and cancer screenings.
